The Monday AHG ended their 2025 hike schedule with a bright sunny day at Pacifica: A Garden in the Siskiyous, in Williams, Oregon.
A long, beautiful drive through the Applegate Valley brought us to the parking lot and TH of Pacifica's 420 acres. We met up with our 4 early birds, giving us 14 for today's 5-mile hike with 300' of gain, around the perimeter of the property.
The hike starts uphill into a shady forest and breaks out into the sun at the first of several duck ponds. The sun stayed with us most of the hike as temperatures rose from the 30s to 50 at the hike's end.
We saw fenced pastures with some livestock and 5 riders on horseback. The trails ran outside the fencing.
The gates were closed but not locked, so we were allowed to open them as long as we remembered to shut them behind us.
Besides the open property with green hills around the valley, Pacifica has an active nursery with 12 greenhouses and plenty of room for outdoor weddings.
The property was owned by Steve Miller of the Steve Miller Band from the 60s and 70s. It became an art colony with many remaining metal sculptures along the trail.
Pacifica Gardens is a good place for hiking year-round.
Happy Trails and Happy New Year!
